Safety

Both the ZDX and Macan Electric have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The ZDX has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Macan Electric’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the ZDX are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The ZDX’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The ZDX has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the ZDX and the Macan Electric have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

There are over 37 percent more Acura dealers than there are Porsche dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the ZDX’s warranty.

Reliability

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Acura vehicles are more reliable than Porsche vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Acura fourth in overall reliability. Porsche is ranked 8th.

Fuel Economy and Range

The ZDX can travel with zero emissions for 278 to 313 miles (dependent on model). The Macan Electric can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Brakes and Stopping

The ZDX’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs standard on the Macan Electric are solid, not vented.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the ZDX has larger standard tires than the Macan Electric (265/50R20 vs. 235/55R20). The ZDX Type S’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Macan Electric (275/40R22 vs. 255/45R21).

The ZDX A-Spec’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Macan Electric’s standard 55 series front tires.

The Acura ZDX’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Porsche Macan Electric only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The ZDX has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the ZDX can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the ZDX’s wheelbase is 7.9 inches longer than on the Macan Electric (121.8 inches vs. 113.9 inches).

Passenger Space

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the ZDX’s rear seats recline. The Macan Electric’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Macan Electric with its rear seat up (29.7 vs. 22.9 cubic feet). The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Macan Electric with its rear seat folded (63 vs. 59.5 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the ZDX Type S’ liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Ergonomics

The ZDX has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The ZDX’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Macan Electric’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the ZDX has a standard rear wiper. A rear wiper costs extra on the Macan Electric.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the ZDX has standard extendable sun visors. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Model Availability

The ZDX is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
