For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Acura Integra have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Alfa Romeo Giulia doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Acura Integra are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Alfa Romeo Giulia doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Integra are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Giulia doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Integra A-Spec Technology/Type S has a standard Low-Speed Braking Control that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Giulia doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Both the Integra and the Giulia have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available rear parking sensors.

The Acura Integra achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2025 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated moderate overlap front crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The Giulia has not yet been fully evaluated by the IIHS for 2025.

Acura’s powertrain warranty covers the Integra 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Alfa Romeo covers the Giulia. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Giulia ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 3 times as many Acura dealers as there are Alfa Romeo dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Integra’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Integra’s reliability 25 points higher than the Giulia.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Acura vehicles are better in initial quality than Alfa Romeo vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Acura above average in initial quality. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles, Alfa Romeo is rated below average.

The Integra Type S’ standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 40 more horsepower (320 vs. 280) and 4 lbs.-ft. more torque (310 vs. 306) than the Giulia’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the Integra gets better mileage than the Giulia:

The Integra has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Giulia doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Acura Integra higher (5 to 6 out of 10) than the Alfa Romeo Giulia (4). This means the Integra produces up to 12.1 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Giulia every 15,000 miles.

The Integra offers a manual transmission for better acceleration, control and sportiness. The Giulia doesn’t offer a manual transmission.

The Integra has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The Giulia doesn’t offer a CVT.

For better traction, the Integra Type S’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Giulia (265/30R19 vs. 225/40R19).

The Integra Type S’ tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Giulia’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

The Integra has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Giulia doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Integra offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Giulia; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Integra Type S handles at 1.02 G’s, while the Giulia Q4 pulls only .79 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Integra Type S executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.6 seconds quicker than the Giulia (24.5 seconds @ .76 average G’s vs. 27.1 seconds @ .66 average G’s).

The Acura Integra may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 450 pounds less than the Alfa Romeo Giulia.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Integra a Large car, while the Giulia is rated a Mid-size.

The Integra has .9 inches more front shoulder room, 2.3 inches more rear legroom and 2.4 inches more rear shoulder room than the Giulia.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Acura service is better than Alfa Romeo. J.D. Power ranks Acura 6th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 20% lower rating, Alfa Romeo is ranked 19th.

The Integra A-Spec Technology/Type S has a standard heads-up display that projects speed and warning readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Giulia doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

On a hot day the Integra’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance with the keyless remote or at the outside door handle. The driver of the Giulia can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

When the Integra A-Spec with Technology Package is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Giulia’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

Insurance will cost less for the Integra owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Integra will cost $4130 to $8595 less than the Giulia over a five-year period.

The Integra will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Integra will retain 50.41% to 50.54% of its original price after five years, while the Giulia only retains 48.07% to 50.12%.

Consumer Reports® recommends the Acura Integra, based on reliability, safety and performance. The Alfa Romeo Giulia isn't recommended.

The Type S was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2024. The Giulia hasn’t been picked since 2018.

A group of representative automotive journalists from North America selected the Integra as the 2023 North American Car of the Year. The Giulia has never been chosen.

The Acura Integra outsold the Alfa Romeo Giulia by over 10 to one during 2024.
